Sárkány Lee

May 18, 27 and 28, 2015

Performed by Gruppo Tökmag

The visual art group Gruppo Tökmag (András Tábori and Tamás Budha) came across an abandoned comic book four years ago in which the life of Sárkány Leea kung-fu-clad being of energy—comes to life in 1980s Pécs. In the story, the everyday experiences of a Roma teenage boy blend with a fantasy world. Into the reality of the child protection system (GYIVI), the courts, and the police are woven elements such as bio-rays, an appearance on MTV, and a journey to Hong Kong. Using the information found in the comic, they managed to track down the family of the author, István Kolompár, who died at a young age. As a result, during the discussion following the shadow-theatre performance based on the comic, the audience can gain insight into the author’s eventful life.
