„Reanimatio” – reanimation of the abandoned space with the power of arts

We asked last year’s organizers and participants of the colony of artists named Reanimatio, to present our long-range plans and to talk about their experiences. To recall this network, one of the creative groups will energize a new space with their creative works.

Reanimatio means reanimation. In the past years, citizens of Esztergom was shocked by the lack of possibilities of a living city. Therefore we started a community builder program, which we try to implement with the tools of art. Now the location of our performances is an empty school, which we inhabited in the summer of 2014 with a colony of 50 artists. During the program they created an outdoor secco, indoor assemblage, wall-paintings, photo workshops, film screenings, literary meetings, organized programs for children, and we created a Japanese garden as well.

The short –term purpose of the program is the collaboration of several communities, through cultural learning and art. Our long-term aim is to make the communities to do something together, and to find solutions of the absences.
