The main character of Positive is Martha. Martha is a mother, a grandmother, a retired teacher and HIV positive for 15 years. Her husband, Béla left the family after ’89 to travel to Western – Europe for a longer period of time. Upon returning Martha asked Béla to have him tested for HIV as HIV was an issue often present in the press at that time. He went – he said. Soon after he was diagnosed with HIV. It also turned out, that Martha was infected, too. At first Martha wanted to kill her husband. Still, she stayed with him. She cared about him until the last moment. Béla died from AIDS 15 years ago. “Now I am happy with my situation as it is. – says the main character of Positive. – It is clear that I can cope with the things, tasks, problems related to it, and I can accept what this state brings to me as a plus.” At present Martha has been woriking as an activist.
