History Restaged I-II

April 24 – May 31, 2015

History Restaged brings together artists whose practices address the necessity of critical thinking, of individual and collective responsibility. Clemens von Wedemeyer: Muster (screening), May 24 and 30, 2015

The film opens a parallel view of the same place by making its main characters time-travel through three generations of German history. A concentration and work camp during the NS regime, a girls’ detention home in 1970 and finally a memorial site today are all based on the grounds of the former Benedictine monastery Breitenau. The camera follows a group of visiting pupils, a filmcrew and the US-army as they make first contact with the site.

Commissioned and co-produced by dOCUMENTA (13) with ZDF 3sat and Kadist Art Foundation, Paris; Medienboard Berlin
Brandenburg; Nordmedia, Hanover; Hessische Filmforderung HR, Frankfurt/ Main; Galerie Jocelyn Wolff, Paris.
