Eye Resonator at the Power Plantis an immersive installation that captures the imagination, engages the intellect and excites the emotions while responding to the eye movements of thespectator. Eye Resonator explores your capacity for comprehension and transports you to thefuture while bringing alive the dazzling art deco dome of theKelenföld Power Plant’s Control Room, amasterpiece by the Hunagarian architect Virgil Borbíró.
The Control Room is the setting for the domed ‘Cupola’ of the Eye Resonator and invites youinto its multisensory environment. Sound, temperature and light then set you free on a journey ofself-exploration. Each encounter with the system is unique as it reacts to the voluntary andinvoluntary responses of the individual creating a tension between being in control and beingcontrolled.
Eye Resonator at the Power Plantexplores the faculty of perception and aspects ofself-awareness by means of aesthetic pleasure and boredom. Eye Resonator at the Power Plant is curated by Miklós Peternák supported by C3, Center forCulture & Communication Foundation, Kelenföld Power Plant Station and the HungarianMuseum of Architecture. A selection of rare images and writings of Virgil Borbíró are publishedalongside the exhibition on www.eyeresonator.c3.hu.
The Eye Resonator installation was developed in collaboration with computer scientist Dr John Shearer, and utilises eye-tracking technology combined with real-time visualisation. The Eye Resonator development team includes curator Gabi Arrigoni, graphics programmer Gavin Wood, hardware specialist Andor Gaudia and sound composer Adam Parkinson.
