Pacsika’s porject is located in the inner courtyars of a downtown building. Its core are wellchairs that form a network. We can only guess the amount of pain, recovery, fear and worry that these objects must have witnessed. The chairs are connected to each other, forming a circle, reminding us of earlier works by the artist that used objects familiar in urban settings. This arrangement eliminates the original function of these objects. Thanks to a pneumatic systems the chairs slowly breath. This movement unveils their transformation: the forces acting to them force them into a larger circle when the chairs are open, and into a smaller one when they are closed. The artist avoids a direct message. The use of objects that allow for both a popular and the charitable-societal interpretation leads to a tension-filled situation. The suppressed message of the work raises more questions than answers. The transformation and closing offers a practicum whose result/fruit/goal is a shrunken space. The practicality here is social adaptation, tolerance, and vulnerability.
