Beyond the Sea –Live action Bioshock® video game walkthrough – cyberdrama
May 16, 2015
Participating artist: György Szimán
During their history of close to four decades have come a long way in stepping out of gaming rooms and the consoles at home to become an organic part of contemporary culture.
The show is based on the walkthrough model, increasingly popular on video sharing pages. The walkthrough that we will present during the approximately 5-hour event renders side by side – beside the challenges of game technique and skill -, the options offered by the video game, the decision-making points and the consummation of the story, while following the game process pre-meditated and structured by the performer.
Bioshock, dated in 2007, is an FPS video action game, which evokes the dystopian world of the imaginary city, Rapture. The player’s moral decisions have a key role in the game, as the outcome of the story changes accordingly.
The action, directly using the medium of video game, is a personal and individual interpretation of cyberdrama, taking place in a virtual world. The performer/player does not merely implement and resolve but beside its active presentation, he/she becomes the subject of the story as well. The real times game projected during the live action appears as a special film experience for the viewers.
