András Király: MMAHÍR

Atelier Populaire is András Király’s fine art statement ongoing since the end of 2013. MMAHÍR is Atelier populair’s communication channel in public space, which reacts to the rendering of the Hungarian Academy of Arts (MMA).

Atelier Populaire is András Király’s fine art statement ongoing since the end of 2013. MMAHÍR is Atelier populair’s communication channel in public space, which reacts to the rendering of the Hungarian Academy of Arts (MMA).

The posters published in the Facebook group, MMA scandal, use the virtual public space to nurture protest against the injustices of MMA. The works posted in the group provide a react quick reaction to the anomalies of Hungarian political life by using an image and a word. A key feature when choosing the words to be used is having the letters “MA” and their replacement by “MMA”.

The project consists of two parts: we will hold an action to put up a pre-selection of posters on an advertising board placed temporarily on the gates of Károlyi garden; this independent object will be up for visitors to see until the end of the Biennale.

The smaller artworks exhibited in the space of Lollipop Factory Budapest allow a glimpse into the above-mentioned series of images, therefore MMAHÍR seeks to convey the opinion of the art community to the uninitiated passers-by, drawing attention to the politically governed reorganisation/outsourcing of art resources, intended for good.

The use of the term Atelier Populaire is a refrence to the group organised by students of École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, which produced the posters of the student movement.
